A Social Action Orientation

The Church is committed to improving life for those who struggle with lack of financial, social, health, spiritual, and other opportunities.  We contribute to the Starfish Village Ministry of the Waterville United Church of Christ which has an on-call minister to assist with food, housing, and other needs.  Many of our members and friends participate in local organizations committed to community assistance and social justice.

Evening Sandwich Program

Under the direction of Maili Bailey, the Evening Sandwich Program (ESP), hosted in our church kitchen, serves a bagged take-out meal of four sandwiches, a hot soup, and other items as available. Meals are free -- no questions asked.

Second Sunday Donations

On the second Sunday of each month, we give our non-pledge, in-church offering to a local, non-profit organization.  Our current recipients include:

 

  • Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area (January)
  • Family Violence Project (February)
  • Waterville Area Habitat for Humanity (March)
  • Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter (April)
  • Hardy Girls Healthy Women (May)
  • Essentials Closet (June)

  • Muskie Center c/o Spectrum Generations (August)
  • Maine Children’s Home (September)
  • Waterville Area Food Bank (October)
  • Saint Joseph’s Nature Sanctuary (November)
